Overview

WordPress is the world’s most popular website platform. In this two-day beginner course, you’ll learn how to set up and manage a simple site without coding. The focus is on understanding WordPress structure and using the block editor to create layouts.

You’ll build pages and posts, customise themes, install plugins, and organise menus. The course also covers basic SEO settings, adding media, and keeping your site secure. By the end, you’ll have built a small multi-page site with a homepage and navigation ready to go live. We also give you 30 days access to your practise site so you can continue to learn.

This course is ideal for anyone who wants a personal, community or small business site.

Requirements

This course is fully funded for Hackney residents with UK/EU citizenship who were aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, and who have the right to live and study in the UK. A Hackney address is required.

The workshop runs over 2 days (one day a week for 2 weeks). A £20 refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The deposit is returned on completion of the course. Learners must attend both sessions and complete enrolment and GLA funding paperwork.

Booking

Places are booked on a first come first served basis. We are operating a stand by / waiting list in case courses are fully booked. This course is suitable for anyone with basic PC or Mac skills who wishes to learn how to create a website with WordPress. If English is not your first language you should have a good level of English in order to participate.
