Overview

JavaScript powers the interactive features of almost every website. This two-week evening course introduces JavaScript coding with a focus on practical skills for the workplace. Whether you are interested in front-end development or simply want to understand how web interactivity works, this course provides a structured, hands-on introduction.

You’ll begin with JavaScript basics: syntax, variables, data types and functions. From there you’ll explore arrays, objects and loops, and practise manipulating webpage content dynamically through the Document Object Model (DOM). The course also introduces asynchronous programming using promises and async/await, helping you understand how modern web apps handle data and user interaction.

You’ll also learn about collaborative coding using Git and GitHub, giving you experience of version control and teamwork — essential workplace skills. By the end, you will have built a small interactive project and gained a strong foundation for further study in web development or coding careers.
