Overview

AI tools are becoming part of everyday life, from chat assistants to image generators. This two-day course explains AI in plain language and shows you how to use beginner-friendly tools responsibly.

You’ll experiment with text-based AI for drafting and summarising and try image generation for creative ideas. The course also covers prompting, ethics, privacy and misinformation, giving you a balanced understanding of opportunities and risks.

By the end, you’ll have created a small AI-supported project and built confidence in exploring AI further.

Requirements

This course is fully funded for Hackney residents with UK/EU citizenship who were aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, and who have the right to live and study in the UK. A Hackney address is required.

The workshop runs over 2 days (one day a week for 2 weeks). A £20 refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The deposit is returned on completion of the course. Learners must attend both sessions and complete enrolment and GLA funding paperwork.

Booking

Places are booked on a first come first served basis. We are operating a stand by / waiting list in case courses are fully booked. No prior knowledge of AI tools is required: only basic PC or Mac skills. If English is not your first language you should have a good level of English in order to participate.
