Overview

This two-day course introduces you to the essentials of digital fashion design using Adobe Illustrator. You will learn how professional designers create garment illustrations, technical drawings, and textile patterns. The course is practical and accessible, designed to build your confidence in using industry-standard tools even if you are new to Illustrator.

You’ll learn how to draw garments, apply colour and textures, and create repeating patterns. Along the way you’ll gain an understanding of layers, swatches and artboards, and how to prepare work for presentation. By the end of the course, you will have produced a polished set of illustrations and flats that communicate your design concepts clearly and professionally.

Requirements

This course is fully funded for Hackney residents with UK/EU citizenship who were aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, and who have the right to live and study in the UK. A Hackney address is required.

The workshop runs over 2 days (one day a week for 2 weeks). A £20 refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The deposit is returned on completion of the course. Learners must attend both sessions and complete enrolment and GLA funding paperwork.

Booking

Places are booked on a first come first served basis. We are operating a stand by / waiting list in case courses are fully booked. No prior knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is required: only basic PC or Mac skills. If English is not your first language you should have a good level of English in order to participate.
