Overview

HTML and CSS are the foundations of the web. This two-day beginner course teaches you how to create and style simple webpages. You’ll learn HTML tags for content, and CSS for layout and design.

The course explains how to insert text, images, lists and links, structure pages with sections and navigation, and apply colours, fonts and spacing. You’ll also use developer tools in the browser to test and troubleshoot code. By the end you’ll have built a small multi-page site locally.

Requirements

This course is fully funded for Hackney residents with UK/EU citizenship who were aged 19 or over on 31 August 2025, and who have the right to live and study in the UK. A Hackney address is required.

The workshop runs over 2 days (one day a week for 2 weeks). A £20 refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The deposit is returned on completion of the course. Learners must attend both sessions and complete enrolment and GLA funding paperwork.

Booking

Places are booked on a first come first served basis. We are operating a stand by / waiting list in case courses are fully booked. This workshop is suitable for anyone with basic PC or Mac skills who wants to understand how the web works. No previous knowledge or experience of HTML or CSS is necessary. If English is not your first language you should have a good level of English in order to participate.
